Business Essentials for Researchers 2026,    

Business Essentials for Researchers 2026 (BER) is an introductory training about preparation of  commercialisation and development of innovation in academia, aimed at doctoral researchers and early career/post doc researchers at ÅAU and UTU. Altogether 20 participants from Åbo Akademi University and University of Turku are selected to the training. Participants are selected based on a motivation letter. Topics in the training include  Patents, Business and Revenue models work shop and Pitching (how to pitch a business idea (based on research))

The training consists five on-site learning session days (20 hours) consisting of expert lectures and workshop sessions as well as independent studying (7 h), and of independent studying online (27 hours). A detailed schedule of BER will be available later.

On site learning days (11.11, 18.11, 25.11, 2.12, 9.12 ) are placed in Turku at Åbo Akademi University (ASA-huset, Vänrikinkatu 3) and at Yrittäjyystila Konttori (Hämeenkatu 9).

Application deadline is at Monday 5.10 at 23.59.

1 page motivation letter is required when applying to BER

Please, include the following information in your motivation letter: your motivation to take part in the BER training, your previous experience in entrepreneurship and innovation processes (if applicable) and, finally, explanation on how the training supports your future career aspirations.
